Hello, Gentle People. Lee & I are so passionate about this topic…
The 5 Hottest Insider Tips on How to Get The Most Out of Live Events
If you remember from our story, Lee actually started our business after a single seminar. He was open to it and It literally Changed Our Lives. (Yes, sounds cliche but it’s true.)
So, read these top suggestions and TAKE ACTION to make the most out of YOUR weekend at this (or any future) event.
Tip #1) Take LOTS of notes . Trust me, when you go back to your room at the end of the day, your head is gonna hurt and you WON’T remember a third of what you heard. (A recent study actually suggests that you retain as little as 10% of what you hear at a live seminar!).
So, take notes and be sure you understand what you were talking about in the note.
Tip #2) Don’t sit in the room and surf the web . Laptops are cool, if that is how you take notes. But DO NOT waste your time by doing something you can do at home. You paid to be here – either with time or money – or BOTH. Don’t waste either yours or the speakers.
Plus if you have your laptop, you can keep your virtual friends updated on event highlights and goings ons (like on TWITTER…www.Twitter.com…you should totally follow us = @leecollins @robincollins)
Tip #3) Participate in all Activities . If there are group happenings, make yourself part of that group. Period. You will make more strides in your business just hanging out with other folks. And that brings us to NETWORKING
Tip #4) Come on, you know this. Networking is THE key to successful business . And if you are at a seminar, you are already with a crowd of like-minded folks. Part of your job is to WORK IT! This means mingle with attendees and speakers a like. But remember to LISTEN. People like to share – give them their turn to do just that.
And if you want to make an impression on a speaker and want to have an opportunity to pick their brains – offer to buy them lunch. Sounds like a DUH moment, doesn’t it? But many don’t ever do this.
When we first considered starting our own business, we would invite speakers to lunch and then just listen. The ideas that came to us during these lunches literally developed our first business model.
Don’t reinvent the wheel, folks. Just listen when those who are doing what you want to do speak.
and our final tip for today…
Tip #5) Write down just one thing that you will take action on from the seminar. JUST ONE. So many times you can become overwhelmed with all the information and ideas and this can PARALYZE you.
Don’t let that happen. Take one step. One action. Once this is done, just do another.
“Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you will be walking cross the floo—oo—oor!”
